WhyMyPhone Privacy Policy

WhyMyPhone (the "App") is built on one principle: your diagnostic data never leaves your phone by default. This policy explains what we collect — and, more importantly, what we don't.

1. What we do not collect

• No account required — we never ask for your name, email or phone number;
• Your monitoring history (thermal logs, CPU/memory/battery curves) is never uploaded — it stays on your device (and in your own iCloud backup, if you have one enabled);
• No advertising SDKs, no cross-app tracking, no sale of data — ever;
• No cookies or similar tracking on this website.

2. AI features and data handling

The App offers three AI analysis paths:

• On-device model (Apple Intelligence devices): all analysis runs on your phone. No data leaves the device;
• WhyMyPhone cloud gateway: only the minimal summary of a single analysis is sent (live metrics + your description + analysis instructions). Historical records are never sent. Our servers do not retain conversation content — only billing metadata (token counts, latency, timestamps); abuse is prevented by IP rate limiting. Full disclosure: this summary is forwarded to DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com, a third-party provider) for inference, and it includes impersonal device info such as device model and OS version;
• Bring-your-own-key (BYOK, advanced): analysis goes directly to an OpenAI-compatible endpoint you configure. It does not pass through our servers.

3. Permissions

The App requests no sensitive permissions (no location, photos, contacts or microphone). All monitored metrics (thermal state, CPU, memory, disk, battery, screen brightness, network type) come from public iOS system interfaces and require no authorization.

4. Data deletion

Deleting the App removes all local data (history, questionnaire answers, health settings). On our side we store no personal content — only anonymous quota counters that cannot identify you.

5. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personally identifiable information.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be highlighted in the App or on this site. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
